Recently, I have written about the spam comments, which still queued in my moderation list. Maybe some of you out there still dont have any idea what is spam exactly. I have stumbled upon an interesting thread in Webmaster Malaysia forum discussing about the meaning of spam in easy words. And this description catch my attention: SPAM = Stupid Pointless Annoying Message!

According to Dictionary.com, spam is unsolicited e-mail, often of a commercial nature, sent indiscriminately to multiple mailing lists, individuals, or newsgroups. In other words it is junk e-mail.

How can spams affect your blog? First, it will give bad impression from the readers of your blog. I have read a blog short post, which has 200 comments. Curiously, I wanted to know, what discussions were going on? But disappointedly, they all are spams about, viagra, poker, etc. If a blog with good contents having hundreds of spam comments, I still consider it as a spam blog.

Some spam bots are smart enough to post nice comments on your blog such as; “I really like your site, keep up the good work.” and “This is a beautiful site.”

Besides, the spam bots also consume your bandwidth every time they visit your site. That means you are actually paying for spam comments. Therefore, as a blog publisher, we must fight against spam, because they are annoying. To fight spams from entering my Wordpress blog, I use the combination of Spam Karma 2 and Askimet after have been suggested by my readers (I only use Askimet before). Both plugins are free to be used. To use Askimet you must have Wordpress.com API Key (What is this?), which can be obtained from Wordpress.com.

Both plugins work great and everyday, almost 50 spams are caught. Are your blog is protected from spams? If don’t, protect it now before you have to waste your time deleting hundreds spam comments on your blog.

Have you ever made a website just for AdSense sake? A site, which is rich with keyword but no real content? I’ve made such a website using free software, HyperVRE from Matt Callen. This software, which come with free templates, will aggregate articles from internet for your chosen keyword. Besides, it also collects the rss feeds, which are related to your keyword. As a result, you will get a website which is full with the keyword and with AdSense (You will be asked for your AdSense code during the wizard). And the site is seemed to be updated frequently because it display different RSS feeds after you refresh the page.

In case you want to take a look at my made-for-AdSense website, this is the link:Music – Refreshing your Life.

Such a website is very good for search engine and AdSense, but as a human, the site sucks and does not give information that we searched for. Yes, you can make lots of money if you have lots of such site and get good traffic, but the sites are just craps, which make internet become more unreliable.

What do you think of such site? Share your opinion using the comment form below.
