Searching for free realiable ANTIVIRUS?

Norton Antivirus is a very big name. Normally your new computer will come together with this Norton Antivirus. But to protect your computer, you must spend some money to get the license, unless you are using the pirated one.
Some people cannot afford to do that. So, it comes the free antivirus, which provide the same function as the paid one. Through Google, I’ve found this FREE avast! Home Edition AV.
Our company offers the Home Edition free of charge, since, in our
opinion, it is possible to avoid global virus spreading by efficient prevention; however, many user are not able to or do not want to pay for antivirus software. This page will show you the most important features of this program.
This review is very helpful to me.

Reviewer: mad professorPros: Even if you paid for them, your safety is more important than trying to get your money out of those pieces of junk. Similar to the other people who claim to have had Norton Antivirus on for quite some time, only to uninstall and then install this for it to find multiple trojan viruses, I too had the same experience and the same exact thing was experienced by a friend of mine who had a fully functional version of Norton AV, Avast found at least 12 trojans running rampant on his computer. The worst thing though about the Norton AV situation, on both my computer and my friend’s computer, ALL the files that were infected with the trojan were EASY to recognize as virus files – so if I could easy tell they were viruses by simply looking at them, why in the world did Norton not catch them?
(Just goes to show you that Norton has gotten so big that it has grown lazy, people buy it because of the brand recognition and nothing else).
This program even allows you to select it to autoupdate both the antivirus definitions and the program itself. When it does update the virus definitions, it even tells you through a .wav file, so your computer actually says “Virus database has been updated”.
this program is currently using 0% CPU usage and 25 megabytes of RAM. I am on a 2.0 gigahertz AMD Athlon XP processor with 1.25 gigs of DDR Ram.
This program, when combined with a firewall, antispyware, and Firefox is part of a very effective system to keep anyone’s computer safe from attacks, infection and generally locked down. go to download.com, search for “sygate” (firewall), “adaware” (antispyware) and “Firefox” for a better, more secure browser and lacking the gaping security holes that Internet Explorer has.
Cons: not enough people know about this great program!

The only function, which you could not find in avast! Home Edition is script blocking. I’ve installed this AV in my friend’s PC (I don’t have a PC) and it successfully detected two trojans. Poor Norton, why don’t you tell me???

I’m happy with the free version of AVG Antivirus. Hasn’t failed me at all and updates everyday.
How to get free version af AVG? I’ve searched in their website, but only found the paid one and trial version.
From AVG to avast! user. sure never fail you.
But the computer runs a little bit slower. I am not sure whether it is caused by avast! or not.
